Mr. Gregory I want to say Thank You for a wonderful night in Sanford, NC. My family drove a pretty good ways to see you and man was it worth it. You absolutely made our night and brought back old memories for mom and dad and had us all in tears laughing. Thank you again seriously for making my family feel so special and at home even if they were miles away. You are a great man and have a lot to offer the world. Keep people laughing and keep speaking the truth. I can’t wait to see you again. Take care of yourself and remember if you don’t, I am a chiropractor and I’ve got your back – haha! Cheers to you sir. Thank you!!!!!

You have to be one of the funniest people I have ever encountered. I have never laughed so hard in my life. When the show was over, I was in pain; I had laughed so hard. My sides were actually sore the next day. There are so many people I have told about you and showed your DVDs to. Your show that night, and your DVDs, have brought me more smiles and laughter than anything ever in my life. Even to this day I watch those DVDs over and over and without fail they never get any less funny. I live by myself after a bad divorce. I keep a battle with depression going. On my really bad days, I just put in one of the DVDs and, like a small miracle, in no time I’ll be smiling and laughing. For that I give you a million Thank You’s.

Thank you! You were so kind to send my dad the gifts and he LOVES them. You have no idea how much laughter you bring to our family. Not all of us get along – but when have something we can laugh about that we ALL love (you!) it makes the holiday so much more enjoyable.

I saw you for the first time years ago. My friends took me to see you after my brother died. That night I laughed for the first time in several months. Tomorrow night I’ll be joining one of my best friends who is fighting breast cancer to forget our problems and enjoy your entertainment. Thank you for who you are and what you do. You make people laugh … sometimes when they need it most, and you leave people with cherished memories

Thank you for supporting our troops. My wife attended your show in Greenville, SC, and she attempted to buy a set of your DVDs for me. She sent me the DVDs and told me you gave them to her. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that gesture. I’ve chosen to serve in the Army over 16 years and it has been a blessing and a burden at times. Being able to laugh does so much for the spirit, and my soldiers have gotten great laughs from watching your videos. We are currently stationed at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, and work keeps us busy. But we also have some down time. Keeping them laughing, keeping their spirits up, until we go home is one of my main concerns, and your DVDs help that process. Thank you for the support.

If I know you are going to be on the radio, on Rick and Bubba, I make sure to take my break while you are on. I am raising my grandson (my daughter was killed in a car wreck) and I’ve had him since he was two. He loves stand-up comedians, and I can’t wait to share this with him. James, keep up the good work. I hope you get to keep performing for a long, long time.

My dad and I are all-time fans of yours. I’ve seen your show before, but this past Thursday I got the old man to go with me and let me tell you we had one of the best, most unforgettable times we’ve ever shared together. Times with you Pops are priceless and the memories leave you with all you’ve got when they are gone. Thanks to you, you have made one memory stand out the most.

I just wanted to let you know how much my family loves your work. The laughter you provide has helped keep my mom’s spirit and will to fight for her life much easier for her and all of us. Seeing you in concert is a definite highlight of the year. A time that I know we will all smile.

I am a high school biology teacher. I go to your shows at least once or twice a year and I laugh harder every time I go. My students know who The Funniest Man in America is, and when I’m having a rough day or I get a little grumpy, they always throw out one of your classic lines to make me smile. I incorporate humor in my classes as much as I can – and you have always been an inspiration to my doing so.

My daughter got in touch with you last Christmas for help in finding a CD for my husband and you called her and sent a package with your autographed picture, CDs and a book. What a wonderful gift that was for my husband.

We went to your show last night. I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard in my life! My dad’s wanted to see your show for forever and drive seven and a half hours to go to the show last night. He made a “bucket list” last year, and seeing you was on it. It was really great to be able to share that with him and with my mom.

You are without a doubt the funniest comedian I have ever seen. My wife had really been through some “health stuff” for the last year and she really needed the laugh. You are truly one of a kind.

I had to send a note to thank you for some many years of laughter and joy. In 2008 I had to undergo quad bypass surgery, followed by many dark days. One of the things that got me through that time, aside from the grace of a loving Lord, was being able to have a few laughs and listening to you always lifted my spirits and made some dark times not so dark. I have been a fan for many, many years and just wanted to take the time to let you know that you sure have been a great source of laughter and fun for me. You take me back to my childhood, growing up in the mountains of western North Carolina. God bless you, James and thank you again so much.

I’ve never sent an email like this, but I felt compelled to. We saw your show last night and Virginia and I just wanted to say thanks. My sister and I had just spent the past 8 weeks helping my mother through the process of moving to an assisted living facility in South Carolina. They had just left a couple hours prior to your show, and to say I was feeling saddened by the changes that my mom is having to deal with is an understatement. I’d already purchased tickets for your show for my wife, son and daughter-in-law, and decided to go anyway, despite my low spirits. I also had a ticket for my mother in case she’d chosen an assisted facility in Virginia. I regret that she could not make it because she would have loved it. My mother, like my late father, knew the healing power of humor and laughter. For a couple of hours last night at your show, I was able to set aside my sadness and my worries and my concerns for Mom, and simply laugh. And laugh we did … loud, long and hearty, and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being so good at your craft, and thank you for the laughter you bring to others.

My wife passed away years ago and I was left to raise a teenage daughter on my own. In 1998, for her 18th birthday, a friend took us to a comedy club in Birmingham, Alabama. We had seats at a table right at the stage. The must have told you in advance that it was her birthday, as part of the way through your routine you stopped and told the crowd that it was her birthday and that she was with her dad and that you were not going to pick on her. You also told her that even though she was with her dad, it was OK to laugh at your jokes. She laughed at your jokes and when we get together, she still laughs about it. Life with her has been much more relaxed and enjoyable after being exposed to your comedy. I have never had an opportunity to see you again, but if I do I will be there for sure. Thanks for the laughs – and for a more enjoyable life.
